Oops I did it again, but I forgot that (IIPM Publication)

The Citibank in Japan recently recovered from a big computer mess, due to which the bank committed 2,74,800 erroneous transactions. Around 69,800 transactions, though processed correctly on May 2, were again mistakenly processed on May 9, 2006. The rest of the transactions were processed, but the statements did not reflect so. The types of accounts affected were yen Savings, US dollar Savings, checking, International Loan Card and Advanced Money. An incorrect Batch Process due to a new process implementation is the culprit. To polish its tarnished image, the bank was quick to react and the matter was tackled by May 10.
